The renovations will be begin in fall 2015 and are expected to continue until late 2016. These changes will improve the overall appearance of the building, both inside and out. Approximately 6-10 residents will be moving in over the next few weeks. The building’s 39 units will continue to be filled as renovations are completed.
Blair Apartments is located at 3000 28th Avenue, Vernon BC. It is a five minute walk to most of the social services in Vernon. The thirty nine bachelor units are available to woman and men who are in need of affordable housing who can live independently and understand the importance of being good tenants and neighbours. Residents are able to access all services and programs delivered through the Society. Referrals and assistance to community resources and programs is provided.
Tenants will include singles and couples who are referred to the apartment manager through various local community agencies. To be eligible, tenants must be low-income, in need of affordable housing, and able to live independently.

Community Kitchen: Access to the community kitchen is available to all residents.
Work BC Employment Program: Available to residents upon entry to the program.
Housing Outreach Staff: Staff can assist residents in finding subsidized or market rent housing in the community.
This new facility has been named Blair Apartments in recognition of Blair Peden. Blair has served on the board of directors of the John Howard Society of the North Okanagan and Kootenay Region for over 30 years. We are honored to recognize his ongoing commitment to promoting and leading effective, just and humane responses to the causes and consequences of crime and poverty by working directly with individuals, service providers and the broader community.
