Community Living Residential Services

Our Community Living Residential Services provide a twenty-four hour supported living environment for adults with developmental disabilities under the care of Community Living BC (CLBC). Individuals served may also have concurrent disorders, or be impacted by the criminal justice system.

The goal of our programs is to provide a supportive home environment, and assist residents to acquire the social, educational, or vocational skills which will enable them to thrive in less structured, independent living arrangements. Our programs provide intensive living assistance and skill building to promote inclusion and independence.

Our Community Living Residential programs focus on the following areas:

• Daily Living Skills: personal hygiene, health/mental health management, time management, meal planning and preparation, shopping, daily/weekly chores, budgeting
• Community Awareness and Social Maturity: transportation, leisure, volunteering, interpersonal skills, relationship building, consideration, problem solving, public safety
• Educational and Vocational Skills: Employment readiness preparation, referrals to community based educational/job training programs, volunteer placements, job searches, resume, and job interviews
• Increased social network: for persons served to experience increased community connectedness in their neighborhoods, community, and age-affiliated activities
• Activities will focus on community participation and inclusion, and removing barriers and stigma to accessing essential supports
• Community Engagement: including volunteering, employment, recreational activities, day programs, and other community engagement opportunities
• Promoting Independence: all individuals will have a person-centered plan that reflects their goals
