Operating with the support of Service Canada, Access to Employment educates and assists employers and people with disabilities secure competitive employment for close to 200 people annually.

 

Brain Trust Canada Association

Brain Trust Canada Association is a progressive community rehabilitation agency dedicated to maximizing independence, capitalizing on natural support systems and being a leader in injury prevention initiatives. We currently offer services to individuals with brain injury and their families throughout the Okanagan Valley. Our injury prevention efforts are recognized across the nation.

We understand the fundamental importance of nurturing young people’s self-esteem by engaging them in activities that challenge and enrich their minds, bodies and spirits.

 

Junction Literacy & Youth Centre

The Junction Literacy Centre was established in 2007 in response to community input regarding the literacy needs of people living in the North Okanagan region (Vernon, Coldstream, Lumby and Cherryville). A central literacy organization with paid coordinators became a primary goal. Based on the VCLC Literacy Plan.

At the Junction Literacy & Youth Centre we aim to provide youth aged 14 - 18 years with a safe, non-judgmental environment where they feel they can connect with friends, staff, and the community.

 

Vernon Youth Safe House

Providing a safe residential alternative for youth ages 13 - 18 who are experiencing homelessness, at risk of becoming homeless, or are at risk of being in an unsafe environment.

The First Nations Friendship Centre (with community partnership) supports the universal rights of children and youth to safe housing, adequate food, proper representation, accessible education, and health care. We will advocate and assist youth in accessing community resources.

  • Provide crisis intervention, stabilization, assessment, and individual case planning services
  • Reduce the harm experienced by youth
  • Provide services to youth that are respectful of their identity, gender, age, sexual and religious orientation, and culture
  • Make appropriate and effective referral to community resources

 

North Okanagan Restorative Justice Program

Builds strong communities by repairing harm and strengthening relationships resulting from conflict and crime and provides a regional approach to participating communities in the imeplementation of an alternative to existing systems that resolve conflict.
